Deepening community-based partnerships is a central component of conflict transformation-oriented work across Middlebury. As part of these efforts, colleagues and students regularly meet with community partners to reflect on and explore student engagement and broader impacts of their project-based experiential learning, courses, internships, and Practica.
As many higher education institutions seek to integrate Community-Engaged Research (CER) into their programs and deepen efforts towards social justice, students need quality CER training and resources.

Staff and faculty from the Middlebury Institute joined colleagues from California State University Monterey Bay (CSUMB) to kick off “semester of relationship-building” with City of Gonzales to explore options for increased involvement, research and classes.
Three years in the making, the Gonzales Community Solutions Lab (CoLab) partners students from the Middlebury Institute and two other local higher education institutions with local nonprofits and community leaders with the goal of achieving sustainable, longer term positive impacts in the nearby city of Gonzales.
