To help students who are experiencing unexpected financial needs, we have set up the MIIS Student Emergency Fund, which is supported by donations from faculty, staff, the MIIS Student Council, and friends in the community. The Fund is a way for students to receive additional support for pressing needs. This is not a loan, but a gift.
As we work to ensure academic continuity in this period of great disruption, we strive to be as adaptable and responsive as possible. Many people proposed changes to our grading policies for the spring semester, echoing a nationwide debate on this subject. In considering such changes, we started out by surveying the community so we could better understand your perspectives on the issue. More than 500 of you shared your thoughts. We thank you and want to say, we heard you.
We are writing to address a number of areas of concern that have been brought to us, decisions we have made regarding academic work for the remainder of the semester, and a number of resources that we hope you will find helpful.
This is a message following up on President Patton’s announcement to the Institute campus that we will be moving all instruction to remote methods, effective Monday March 23, and that instruction will be remote for the remainder of the spring semester.
