The MA in Global Governance and Policy (GGP) is a 42-credit program that can be completed in 12 months or 16 months.

Students take three core courses, one in each of the following skill categories:
Policy
Pick one of these core courses that provide students with the theory, mechanisms, and topical content for developing policies and related programs:
- International Politics and Development (3 credits)
- Global Governance and International Organization (3 credits)
- Intro Trade Policy and Institutions (3 credits)
- Development Theory and Practice (3 credits)
Implementation
Pick one of these core courses that focus on the administration and management of programs implemented by NGOs, governments, and multilateral agencies:
- Organizational Development and Leadership (3 credits)
- Program Management (3 credits)
- Power, Social Change, and Organizations (3 credits)
- Program Evaluation seminar (3 credits)
Methods
Pick one of these courses that give students the tools for evidence-based approaches to improve policies, programs, and governance mechanisms:
- Policy and Data Analytics (3 credits)
- Intro to Network Analysis (3 credits)
- Qualitative Data Analysis (3 credits)
- Taking Measure of the Unmeasurable (3 credits)
Language Studies and Intercultural Competence (4 credits)
You will take content courses in a second language and/or courses in intercultural competence.
Sample language studies courses:
- Arab-African Relations (in Arabic)
- Citizenship, Security, and Development in Latin America (in Spanish)
- Challenges in Peacebuilding—Congo (in French)
Sample intercultural competence courses:
- Intercultural Group Dynamics: explore why global and multicultural teams often struggle and conversely how you can manage diverse teams to outperform homogenous groups.
- Communication in Multicultural Settings: gain the knowledge and tools needed for effective participation in multilingual and multicultural communication as you examine the related social, cultural, and linguistic factors.
You may use electives to take additional language studies and/or intercultural competence courses.
Practicum (6 credits)
Your final semester practicum can be completed in-person or remotely, allowing you to transition to your preferred location before you graduate and gain professional experience in a context that closely aligns with your career goals. Learn more about the practicum.
Electives (23 credits)
You have the flexibility to use electives to focus your coursework, take courses across focus areas (see below), add additional language studies and/or intercultural competence courses, pursue specialization courses, and/or explore courses from other degree programs (assuming prerequisites are met).
