On July 22, 2019 the Secretariat of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) announced the passing of its Director General, Yukiya Amano, who had served as the head of the global nuclear watchdog since 2009. CNS Director Bill Potter remembers his friend and former colleague with the following passage.
