Dear Faculty and Staff,

If you have not yet familiarized yourself with our return-to-campus plans, please read them over at this link. As always, you can access previous messages on our return to campus website.

Lanyards with ID Cards Required on Campus.  Lanyards with a MIIS ID card will be required on campus for the new academic year.  Lanyards are available for pick-up from Security for all faculty and staff.  If you need a new MIIS ID card, follow the steps below:

Upload a headshot photo to the MIIS directory. Be sure to log in with your Middlebury.edu email address and then click “Upload Photo” at the top of the web page.

  • E-mail miissecurity@middlebury.edu your name, Institute ID number, and best email address.
  • Security will make your ID card and notify you when it’s ready for pick-up in person.
  • Security is able to mail ID cards to online-only faculty, staff, and students. Follow this process and include your mailing address in your email to Security.

International Travel Set to Resume.  Middlebury-sponsored international travel for faculty, staff, and students will resume on August 15, 2021. Travel will be permitted under the rules of the international travel policy. Travelers should be attentive to the COVID-19 situation in their destination and are subject to all host country travel restrictions and quarantine requirements. Faculty and staff should also be mindful that current budgets may not support previous levels of institutional travel.  International travelers are also reminded of the requirement to register any Middlebury-sponsored international travel in Middlebury’s Travel Registration system.  Information on domestic travel will be forthcoming soon.

New Printers Deployed on Campus.  Just a reminder that new printers have been installed across campus.  Now is a good time to go to campus, as you will need to install the new print queues on your computer before you are able to print. Everyone will begin to use Papercut to log into any  printer to release print jobs. This document explains how to accomplish both of these tasks.  More information about printing is available here.

Student Welcome Week will be held the week of August 30, with several planned events on campus. While many Institute employees will be working hybrid home/campus schedules during the fall semester, all faculty and staff colleagues are encouraged to be on campus as much as is feasible between August 30 - September 10 to help welcome new and continuing students to campus. More information on Welcome Week and start-of-semester events will be shared with everyone as we get closer to the dates. Of course, a full schedule of virtual orientation and social events are planned to welcome remote students to the Institute community.

Tidy Up!  Now is a good time to go to your office to clean after the long hiatus from campus, before the new academic year starts.  All common areas are being cleaned now, but offices will be the responsibility of each employee.

Enjoy your weekend!
