With the arrival of spring, and as we enter the second half of the semester, we see many hopeful signs of progress toward a slow return to normalcy. As usual, we would like to take this opportunity to provide our community with a brief update on all things Covid-19 related, including information about planning for the fall 2021 semester.
For faculty and students, I hope this spring break week has provided a much needed respite from your hectic schedules. For many of our staff, this week was devoted to consultation and planning as we move towards a return to campus learning and teaching. Stay updated on all messages about our plans on our Covid-19 site.
Monterey County has finally moved into the “red tier” of the State of California Blueprint for a Safer Economy. While the red tier is still restrictive, there are a few steps that MIIS can take to continue gradually re-opening opportunities on campus.
As the COVID vaccine becomes more available, we are seeing the following two opportunities for some, but not all, students currently living in Monterey County to sign up for an appointment to receive the vaccine.
The week ahead will be a meaningful one for deliberation and consultation regarding our plans for a primarily in-person fall semester.
As we work on our phased return to campus, it is my intention to update you regularly on our progress, as well as the evolving situation in our local community.
