Day 2 MIIS

The Middlebury Institute has again received funding from the Hearst Foundations for support of student scholarships. MIIS was one of 18 California institutions to be awarded a 2021 Hearst Education Grant.

Starting in the fall of 2022, the $150,000 grant will provide scholarships to approximately 10 Institute students over the next two years. Funding from the Hearst Foundations supports the Institute’s Hearst Scholars Program, a named scholarship program that has supported dozens of students for more than three decades. Prior to this year, the most recent Hearst grant to the Institute was in 2016.

“Hearst grants are competitive, and MIIS has been fortunate to have support going back many years,” said Meghan Rasmussen, director of grants and sponsored programs. “This grant advances our top fundraising priority to increase student access to a Middlebury education.”

With education as a primary focus, Hearst Foundations support “educational institutions demonstrating uncommon success in preparing students to thrive in a global society.”

Students who submit applications to the Middlebury Institute will automatically be considered for the Hearst Scholars Program as well as other endowed and named scholarships.
