International Education Management alumna Anna McCreedy (IEM ’17) was awarded the Rising Star Young Leader Award at the NAFSA: Association of International Educators Region 12 Conference in Pasadena, California in November 2019.

Selected from among international educators in California, Nevada, Hawai’i, and the Pacific Islands, this award recognizes a professional who has significantly impacted the field of international education during their first five years of work. McCreedy was nominated by her Middlebury Institute faculty, her University of California, Berkeley supervisors, and fellow NAFSA volunteers.

International Education Management Professor David Wick wrote in McCreedy’s nomination letter, “Since she graduated and joined the field she has consistently mentored students and alumni in our program. Her service has been both formal and informal. Ms. McCreedy has participated in alumni career panels and shared her perspectives on getting into the field and succeeding as an international student adviser. She has also given countless informational interviews and mentored current students on projects and in their job search… We have been inspired and motivated by Anna’s creative and innovative work to bring together our professional community in the Bay Area and Northern California.”

McCreedy supports international students at UC Berkeley where she serves an in international student advisor. She began her work at UC Berkeley while she was a practicum student at the Middlebury Institute. McCreedy has been a leadership team member in the Bay Area Young Professionals in International Education professional networking group, helping to create, promote, and facilitate events bringing together a dynamic community of more than 500 international educators. McCreedy has also volunteered as a NAFSA Northern California District leader serving as Conference Co-Chair, District Chair-Elect, and Publicity and Marketing Representative.
