Milliken Foundation $500,000 Gift to Support MIIS Recruitment, Scholarship, Marketing
The Monterey Institute of International Studies has received a $500,000 gift from the Milliken Foundation to support student recruiting and retention, as well as general promotional efforts of the Institute. The gift was made on behalf of one of the foundation’s directors, a member of the Middlebury College class of 1965.
“We are delighted to accept this generous gift, which will allow us to accelerate our efforts to attract top students nationally and increase awareness of the Institute’s wide range of programs for international professionals,” commented Institute President Sunder Ramaswamy.
According to the donor, “Many who graduated from Middlebury in the mid-’60s became part of the globalization movement that has changed the world. The addition of the Monterey Institute to the Middlebury family has created a brilliant opportunity for young graduates to carry on the pioneering educational efforts that have made Middlebury one of the top liberal arts colleges in the nation. I believe that graduate-level international education is vital to the future of this country and am pleased to be able to support the Institute’s continuing efforts to attract top students to its remarkable programs.”
