For the third year the Monterey Institute community comes together to nominate and acknowledge outstanding alumni for professional success, service, and other values important to the Institute. This year’s awardees, Ed Brzytwa, Vladimir Cernavskis and Jennifer Ullman, were recognized at the Spring Commencement ceremony.
Friends and family members from near and far gathered in Monterey on Saturday to celebrate the achievements of 278 students from 40 countries at the Monterey Institute Spring Commencement. Sounds of cheers and laughter mixed in with ceremonial bagpipes echoed through town, signaling new beginnings for an accomplished group of graduates.
An anonymous donor has given $2.1 million to create two new scholarship funds honoring the former and current presidents of the Monterey Institute.
The Monterey Institute now ranks second in the nation for participants in the Peace Corps Masters International programs, with 25 students currently on assignment in partnering countries.
The new Center on Social Impact Learning at the Monterey Institute will focus on social entrepreneurship and impact investing, overseeing the existing Frontier Market Scouts program and adding new programs aimed at training students for careers in developing economies.
For the second year in a row, Monterey Institute students dominated the Televic Simultaneous Interpreting Competition in Newcastle, England, taking first, third and fifth place in the competition.
