CTEC Director and Middlebury Institute Professor Jason Blazakis was recently interviewed by Voice of America host Carol Castiel on the ways in which extremist and white supremacist groups, along with authoritarian regimes, have exploited the COVID-19 pandemic to spread disinformation and incite discrimination and violence.

Along with discussing the phenomena occurring in these areas, Professor Blazakis also emphasized the need for the public and senior officials to exercise caution when consuming media on COVID-19 and paying careful attention to what sources they rely upon for their information.

Towards the end of the interview, he stated the following:
“If we’re all gonna be at home ingesting material, we gotta make sure that we’re ingesting the right material and learning about accurate information.”
