CTEC Director and Middlebury Institute Professor Jason Blazakis was quoted by Triad City Beat in their article “The lost boys of Ukraine: How the war abroad beckoned American white supremacists.”

Professor Blazakis comments on the potential radicalization of returning U.S. volunteers who have participated in the ultra-nationalist battalions in Ukraine  — some of whom have shown support for white supremacist ideologies and violence via social media posts and leaked internet chats:
“Yes, these are indicators that these individuals may be going down a dangerous radicalization pathway. It is impossible to say whether they’d directly turn to violent acts, however. They very well could end up trying to spur others to commit acts of violence by working online to red-pill potential like-minded individuals to turn to violence.”
