Director of CTEC Jason Blazakis was quoted by The Center for Public Integrity in a recent article titled “Why domestic terror designation in El Paso shooting likely won’t result in terrorism charges.”

Director Blazakis acknowledges that while domestic terrorism is defined under U.S. law, there are no penalties subject to it. He notes that without the creation of some form of a domestic terrorism statute, the situation is unlikely to change, stating, “As much rhetoric as the government can throw at this issue in trying to describe it as domestic terrorism, that rhetoric falls short in what they can actually do in practice.”
