Director Blazakis talks with CBS News about the limitations of current laws regarding prosecution of domestic terrorism. For example, domestic actors who provide material support to international terrorist groups can be arrested. However, as Blazakis points out, these material support provisions only apply to domestic terrorist groups that have links to a foreign organization.

According to Blazakis, we need to do more than just label domestic terrorists as terrorists - we need the tools to be able to prosecute them as such: “In the minds of many people, it’s the charges that matter the most. You don’t see that word terrorism anywhere in the actual sentencing. They aren’t labeled terrorists pursuant to law.”
