Jason Blazakis talks to NBC News about extremist content on popular online gaming platform, Roblox.

Roblox, especially popular with children, was found to have over 100 accounts that featured white supremacist content. Blazakis commented that his top concern with platforms like Roblox is that they “can be used for recruitment of a younger generation that may be susceptible to the memes, in-group language and jargon that are proliferated by groups like, but not limited to, the Proud Boys.”

Blazakis also noted that it is diligent users on any platform who will keep it free of extremist content by flagging problematic users, stating, “It will take civil society solutions to ensure that the gaming space is safe, free of hate and not being used to further terrorism.”
