CTEC Director and Middlebury Institute Professor Jason Blazakis penned an article for The Hill titled "Better intel could help the US designate white supremacist groups as terrorists"

CTEC Director and Middlebury Institute Professor Jason Blazakis recently penned an article for The Hill on the role of the State Department in FTO designations, and the challenges they face in designating white supremacist groups.
Professor Blazakis explored the different factors that inhibit such designations, to include the general post-9/11 fixation on Islamic terrorist groups and the legal requirement to prove that an organization is both foreign based and has engaged in terrorist activity threatening U.S. national security.
He ended the article by arguing for policymakers to push for an increase in foreign-based intelligence collection against white supremacism, stating that with such a move, “the State Department can better target overseas radical right-wing terrorist groups for FTO designation.”
