Gender Inclusive Restrooms
The Middlebury Institute has many gender-neutral, single-user restrooms throughout campus for the use of:
- People who are uncomfortable in men’s or women’s restrooms for any reason
- People of any gender or any gender identity
- Parents/caregivers whose children are a different gender from them
- People with caregivers or personal attendants who are a different gender from them
- Any student, faculty, or staff member who would like to use them
We have two restrooms that are fully compliant with the latest ADA accessibility codes:
- Lara-Soto Adobe - Faculty and staff lounge (restroom is open for student use), next to security
- Casa Fuente - Accessed from the ground floor on Pacific Street, next to Simulab 4 and the Prayer room
This restroom in Casa Fuente and the restroom in Simoneau house are open until 7 p.m. and the restroom in Lara-Soto is open until 8 p.m. The rest of the restrooms are only accessible during business hours. After 5 p.m., if you have any access issues, call security.
We also have a designated space on campus to provide a quiet and secure location for new mothers to nurse and pump while in school. The room is equipped with two gliding chairs, a refrigerator for storage of breast-milk, and a changing table. Please contact Student Services for the access code.
