Local high schools students were invited to the Middlebury Institute campus on Friday for the eighth year to participate in a wide-ranging program designed to introduce them to the many benefits of an international education.

English program helps alumna launch indigenous interpretation service.

“Communicating culture is a large part of language teaching,” says Monterey Institute alumna Lama Nassif, the newest member of the Arabic Department faculty at Middlebury.
The Monterey Institute and UC Santa Cruz have signed a memorandum of understanding that will allow undergraduate students in the UCSC Linguistics Department to receive credits towards their graduate degrees in language teaching at MIIS.
The Monterey Institute recently welcomed Fulbright scholars from 17 countries for an intensive pre-academic program and an introduction to U.S. culture and hospitality.
Alumna Satomi Kobayashi (MATFL ’97) took her talents as a language professional around the world to Malawi, Nepal and Tanzania before returning to settle down back in Monterey.
Monterey Institute alumna Tricia Bean shares her love of language and interest in other cultures with her students at Carmel High School, while also collaborating regularly with the Institute: “I enjoy being able to give back to the institution that has given me so much.”
