Below are the META Lab’s core program competencies. We frequently offer workshops on these programs and we always have someone in the lab ready to help you with any questions related to these tools.
While most people are familiar with Excel, many are unfamiliar with all of the exciting capabilities that this program offers. From advanced functions to pivot tables, Excel functionality goes far beyond simple formulas.
R is a widely known programming language utilized for data analysis across a range of fields, but it’s particularly popular for statisticians and data miners. We typically work inside of RStudio, an integrated development environment that makes it easy to organize your data and code.
Dedoose is a program used for mixed-method evaluations, letting you organize and analyze a variety of data such as text, photos, audio, videos, and spreadsheets.
Tableau is a popular data visualization software that allows you to connect directly to your own data, or almost any database on the web, letting you transform data into stunning graphics.
Surveys, interviews, and focus groups are all vital methods of collecting both quantitative and qualitative data. These primary research methods all have methodologies and best practices to ensure that the data gathered is accurate and useful.
Statistics concerns itself with collecting, organizing, analyzing, interpreting, and presenting data. It’s used to analyze a wealth of phenomena and can be a powerful tool in identifying problems and evaluating whether solutions or policies are effective.
The META Lab has a rotating list of services based on the current semester’s GA experience. Additional programs offered this semester are:
