Do you need to boost your language skills or learn a new language in preparation for your Institute master’s program? You may qualify for a Summer Language Scholarship.

June–August 2018

The Summer Language Scholarship supports incoming Middlebury Institute students who do not yet meet the language proficiency level required for their master’s degree program. You will be considered for a full or partial scholarship to attend one of Middlebury’s world-renowned intensive summer language programs:

Beginning, intermediate and advanced level classes are offered in the following languages:

  • Arabic

  • Chinese

  • French

  • English

  • Japanese

  • Russian

  • Spanish

Eligible Programs

If you need to improve your language proficiency before beginning one of the following master’s degree programs, you may be eligible for a summer language scholarship. Students who are interested in improving their language skills beyond the minimum required level or who are studying a new language may also be considered for a scholarship.

Master of Arts in International Education Management

Master of Arts in International Environmental Policy

Master of Arts in International Policy and Development

Master of Arts in International Trade and Economic Diplomacy

Master of Arts in Nonproliferation and Terrorism Studies

Master of Arts in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages

Master of Arts in Teaching Foreign Language (TFL)

Joint MPA/MA in International Education Management

Joint BA/MA Degrees

How to Apply

  • Submit your online application for a master’s degree program by the March 30 deadline.

  • Indicate that you would like to apply for a Summer Language Scholarship in the scholarship section of your application.
