Do you need to boost your language skills or learn a new language in preparation for your Institute master’s program? You may qualify for a Summer Language Scholarship.

The Summer Language Scholarship supports incoming Middlebury Institute students who do not yet meet the language proficiency level required for their master’s degree program. You will be considered for a full or partial scholarship to attend one of Middlebury’s world-renowned intensive summer language programs:

Students who are interested in improving their language skills beyond the minimum required level or who are studying a new language may also be considered for a scholarship.

Beginning, intermediate, and advanced level classes are offered in the following languages:

Nonproliferation and Terrorism Studies

Full Scholarship for Nonproliferation and Terrorism Studies Admits

Students admitted to our MA in Nonproliferation and Terrorism Studies (NPTS) are guaranteed a full scholarship (covering tuition, housing, and food) for a summer language program at the Middlebury Language Schools. You will receive this scholarship even if you are not required to improve your language proficiency for admission to the NPTS program. The language scholarship can be used in the summer before you start your program or summer in the middle of your degree program. 

The scholarship does not include books, travel, or personal expenses. 

Languages

NPTS students who are not required to improve their language proficiency for admission to the program can use this full scholarship for any language offered by the Middlebury Language Schools (excluding English). 

How to Apply

  • Submit your online application for a master’s degree program by the April 1 deadline.
  • Indicate that you would like to apply for a Summer Language Scholarship in the scholarship section of your application.
