    Iranian Rocket Launch Ends In Failure, Imagery Shows


    Dave Schmerler MANPTS ‘15 Nonproliferation and Terrorism Studies alumnus and senior research associate at the Middlebury Institute’s James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies (CNS) shared images showing an Iranian rocket that appears to have exploded on the launch pad Thursday with National Public Radio (NPR)
    The imagery from the commercial company Planet  shows smoke billowing from the pad at the Imam Khomeini Space Center in northern Iran.

    Fast, low and hard to stop: North Korea’s missile tests crank up the threat level

    The Washington Post sought out the expertise of Dr. Ferenc Dalnoki-Veress, scientist-in-residence at Middlebury Institute of International Studies for analysis of the latest North Korean missile tests. 
    As Veress explained it, “ballistic missile flies in a predictable arc defined by gravity, just like a baseball thrown high into the air, making it easier to catch. The KN-23 is like a knuckleball — fast, low, unpredictable and almost impossible to catch.”
