In a TIME article, Jason Blazakis, director of the Institute’s Center on Terrorism, Extremism, and Counterterrorism (CTEC), commented on the “broad range of grievances” that continue to drive the Oath Keepers and Proud Boys to instigate political violence. Blazakis explained that while the 2020 election galvanized the Oath Keepers and Proud Boys, a wide range of conspiracies and political grievances continue to motivate the far-right extremist groups.
