Join us in celebrating the professional and research accomplishments of Middlebury Institute students documented in our 2023-2024 annual Experiential Learning Impact Report

The Experiential Learning team has published its sixth annual Experiential Learning Impact Report, showcasing the professional and academic achievements of students during the 2023-2024 academic year.

This report highlights various projects such as practicums, internships, research projects, fellowships, student simulations, and honors these completed by MIIS graduate students. Many of these opportunities were funded by the Experiential Learning fund, enabling students to conduct their research both internationally and locally in Monterey.

Organized by specific academic programs and research centers, the Impact Report encourages MIIS students to apply their academic skills to address and solve global challenges. It offers a diverse snapshot of the remarkable accomplishments students can achieve at MIIS.

We are delighted that the Impact Report continues to reflect the significant progress made by our students, as well as the exceptional guidance provided by professors, alumni, and other professionals.

Being on the ground allowed me to gain insights and nuances that would be difficult to grasp from remote research. I am deeply grateful to the staff at MIIS, the Freeman East Asia Internship Fund, and Dezan Shira and Associates for making this invaluable experience possible

My most memorable experience was spending time in Pristina [Kosovo], where we were able to have one-on-one conversations with university professors, students, and activists, as well as U.S. government agency representatives who are MIIS alumni. This diverse pool of people provided us with a broad picture of the country’s economic, political, and social challenges in building a nation.
