Our MA in Interpretation for Diplomats and Executives (IDE) will accelerate and expand your career opportunities. You will receive exceptional training in your target languages and international affairs, grounded in experiential learning.

Customize Your Interpretation Degree

Our flexible curriculum means you can customize your degree:

  • Choose your language pair.
  • Boost your language skills through immersive summer programs at the world-renowned Middlebury Language Schools.
  • Pursue a directed study in your B language.
  • Receive tutoring in your B language.
  • Add electives from our master’s programs in global security, sustainability, and/or development.
  • Take courses in intercultural competence.

Students in this program should receive full or majority funding from their employers to cover tuition costs. If you receive majority funding and need additional financial support, please review information on scholarships and financial aid.

How to Apply

We take a holistic approach when considering your application, looking at your academic background, international exposure, professional experience, and career goals. We welcome applicants with a wide range of work experience. This approach aligns with the Institute’s core values of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

We do not require GRE or GMAT scores for our master’s programs but competitive scores may strengthen your application and positively influence scholarship decisions. You will submit a Language and Skills Test (LST) to demonstrate proficiency in each of your languages of study.
